Denis Lee Biography

We are extremely heartbroken to announce the death of Prof. Denis Lee.  

Although he is no longer with us, his artwork will live forever.  His art spanned the decades and his inquisitive mind and vast intelligence enabled him to draw and paint subjects in unique situations.

Denis Lee was Professor Emeritus, University of Michigan where he was Professor of Art, Professor of Postgraduate Medicine and Assistant Professor of Plastic Surgery.  He served as Director of the Graduate Program in Medical and Biological Illustration.

During his tenure of teaching and illustration, he received numerous national awards for his pen and ink illustrations, sculpture and facial prosthetics.

During his retirement he painted in a studio overlooking Park Lake in Dexter, Michigan where he created over 700 oil paintings and sculptures.  

Several years ago, he and his wife moved to Noblesville, Indiana where his artwork is displayed in his home gallery.
